The Gobena Ameni Foundation awards young, innovative researchers from Ethiopian universities and research institutions who have made significant contributions to applied or basic research in fields such as Biomedical and Agricultural Sciences (Veterinary Medicine, Medicine and Health Sciences, Animal Science, and Biology).

These researchers must have published their results in peer-reviewed journals to be eligible for the award, which includes a certificate, medals, and financial support.
